Burning mouth syndrome – a burning enigma

چکیده

Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is a chronic pain condition characterized by an intraoral burning sensation and absence of oral mucosal lesions disturbances in laboratory findings. symptoms usually affect the anterior two-thirds tongue, its lateral borders, hard palate labial mucosa, but other cavity sites may also be affected. Taste alterations decrease salivary flow rate frequently accompany symptoms. This mostly affects peri- postmenopausal women. To date, etiology BMS remains unclear. unknown means that no appropriate treatment currently available. A large number treatments medications have been tried for BMS, management unsatisfactory some patients. The purpose this article to present current knowledge on BMS.
